Foster “Fuzz” Christy

Class of 2006

Foster Christy grew up in Huntsville and developed into one of the city’s most accomplished multi-sport athletes before continuing his football career at the collegiate level.

Born in Birmingham, Alabama, Christy moved to Huntsville at just two months of age and spent his childhood participating in youth sports through local YMCA leagues. His father coached many of his early teams, helping shape both his athletic development and his understanding of discipline and teamwork.

Christy attended Whitesburg Elementary and Junior High before enrolling at Virgil I. Grissom High School in 1972. As a freshman, he led the Tigers’ freshman football team to a remarkable season—undefeated, untied and unscored upon. His athletic talent was evident across multiple sports, and he lettered in football, basketball, track and baseball.

While at Grissom, Christy earned All-City honors in track and All-Region recognition in basketball. His greatest success, however, came on the football field. As a senior he was recognized as one of the top 100 high school All-American football players in the United States and was named Huntsville’s Most Valuable Football Player. Recruiting analysts also ranked him among Alabama’s most sought-after prospects.

Christy signed a full football scholarship with Auburn University, where he lettered and started during all four years of his college career. One of his most memorable moments came in the 1976 Auburn–Alabama rivalry game when he scored Auburn’s only touchdown. He also earned recognition as the team’s Most Valuable Blocking Back during spring practice early in his Auburn career.

Christy has always credited his father as the most influential figure in his athletic journey, noting the sacrifices and encouragement that helped him pursue success.

After his playing career, Christy devoted his life to ministry and now serves as an itinerant evangelist with Kingdom Building Ministries, traveling throughout North America and internationally.
