A native of Tyhronza, Arizona, and raised in Winfield, Alabama, June Seals graduated from Winfield High School, where she was a cheerleader and named Most Athletic female. She attended Livingston State College (now the University of West Alabama), where she was a cheerleader but began her coaching career soon after graduating in 1972.
Seals spent 16 years at Clarke County High, winning a girls basketball state title in 1991 and 12 state track championships. She later coached at Bob Jones High (1993–98) and then at Sparkman High beginning in 2002, where she won 6A state basketball championships in 2002, 2003, and 2007.
Her basketball career record stands at 702-146, complemented by five state Coach of the Year awards in basketball and one in track. In 2007, she led the Alabama All-Stars in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game.
