Biography

Sherry Ammons, The Mother of Womens Athletics in Alabama, was born in Andalusia, AL and came to Huntsville in 1968 as a Teacher/Coach. She has excelled in the areas of coaching volleyball, basketball and track with 802 wins and only 211 losses in Volleyball, 231 wins and only 101 losses in Basketball and four (4) City Championships in Cross Country and Track. This inductee attributes her multiple talents, successes and awards to her parents and teachers, and she lists the greatest satisfaction of her life as watching her players grow and mature into confident and productive women who compete ably in the game of life. Sherry was inducted into the Alabama High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame earlier this year, and will be a great addition to the Huntsville-Madison County Hall of Fame.
